Sales & Marketing Manager

The Sales & Marketing Manager will be responsible for defining the sales and marketing strategy, managing sales operations, segmenting the market, analyzing the competition, preparing the materials, speaking at conferences, consulting with clients, organizing Esoko East Africa’s launch, managing PR & social media, and building the Esoko brand in Kenya.

We’re looking for a born networker and strategist who can articulate a complex value proposition, understands how technology can transform efficiency for farmers and agri-businesses, and is keen to work in a private sector tech company with huge potential for social impact and scale.

Role Responsibilities

 Define and implement Esoko East Africa’s sales strategy and plan

 Develop and execute a marketing strategy and plan

 Use client inputs to shape Esoko product strategy and rollout

 Understand the key market segments and their needs for Esoko

 Develop a pricing model for the Kenyan market

 Identify and sell the company’s key products and services

 Design innovative solutions and projects to deploy Esoko

 Establish targets, projections and effective sales processes

 Achieve sales targets and key performance indicators

 Manage Esoko East Africa’s official launch

 Oversee public relations and usage of social media

 Work with strategic partners to increase marketing reach

 Write and design sales literature and marketing materials

 Deliver customer presentations articulately and confidently

 Network with existing customers for upselling & product ideas

 Respond to tender documents and requests for proposal

 Write proposals, reports and supporting literature

 Analyze Esoko’s competitors

Job Requirements

 8-10 years of sales and marketing experience

(minimum of 3-4 years in a senior position)

 Background in agriculture (agri-business preferable)

 Be creative and an out-of-the-box thinker

 Be process driven: value KPIs, CRM, targets, reporting

 Want to work in a business with strong social impact

 Want to work in innovative technology company

 Be able to articulate client needs into product enhancements

 Have a consultative approach to problem solving for clients

 Be a born networker and sales strategist

Esoko is Africa’s award-winning market information service. We provide market prices, weather, tips and buy/sell matchmaking to smallholders via SMS and smartphone. Esoko also allows projects and businesses to setup and manage their own supply chain networks with a range of mobile applications including polling, surveying, e-extension, SMS push, airtime top-up, product validation and inventory tracking. All of this is backed up with a call centre service and field deployment experts and training.

Built and piloted over the last four years in Accra by a team of 50 software engineers, marketing specialists and agricultural business advisors, Esoko represents a new kind of company that is leveraging the power of mobile technology within trade to disrupt and transform how business is done.
