Job Description

Kenyatta University wishes to recruit qualified and dedicated staff to fill the following vacant position:

IS SECURITY ADMINISTRATOR – GRADE E/F
DIRECTORATE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT)

Applicants must be holders of a Degree in Information Technology or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. In addition to this, a wide range of experience in networking and management of a busy Data Centre is essential.

Applicants must have:

  • At least three (3) years relevant working experience in a busy ICT environment.
  • Five (5) or more years of UNIX/Linux/Windows System Administration experience.
  • Have experience with advanced networking, including experience with designing and implementing secured networking environments.
  • Experience with internal audit or IT audit, security analysis or security administration.
  • Experience with internal audit or IT audit, security analysis or security administration.
  • Experience auditing physical access and logical systems access, and analysis of user rights and roles.
  • Experience with system-hardening and security enhancement techniques.
  • Knowledge of security controls for network, database, application and operating systems.
  • In-depth experience with intrusion detection systems, security access authorization, firewalls, security audits, network penetration testing, authorization issues, protection strategies.

Terms of Service:
Terms of service for teaching posts of Lecturers and above are on permanent and pensionable basis and include membership to a pension scheme, a generous medical scheme, housing allowance and commuting allowance. Other posts will be on performance based two (2) year renewable contract plus gratuity at the end of the contract, a generous medical scheme, housing allowance and commuting allowance.
