Job Description

 Sinapis is looking for a part time PR and Partnership assistant for its Entrepreneurial Training Program in Kenya. This role has the following responsibilities:

  • Design communication strategies for the following target markets: (1) Innovative early stage entrepreneurs in Kenya, (2) young, talented business professionals around the world to build a pipeline of applicants for the Entrepreneur Consultant role, (3) Christian, successful entrepreneurs and business professionals in the US and Kenya that may want to participate as Sinapis Investors, (4) Growth financing and other partner organizations in Kenya that can help build out our program, and (5) Churches and other groups in Kenya that can empower their communities through teaching advanced business training and/or Biblical entrepreneurship;

  • Recording and editing promotional videos and pictures of entrepreneurs and organization’s core activities.

  • Assist with basic research as needed in order to connect start-ups and investors and to investigate any trending activities within the start up community.

  • Handle the day-to-day social media management on the different platforms that Sinapis uses.

  • Decide on the most effective method of outreach including workshops/seminars, one on one meetings, social media updates, video, etc. to reach each target market and execute on that method in a planned and organized manner every month;

  • Follow the entrepreneurs, entrepreneur consultants and other staff out to do field work to capture the stories as they happen and report back in real time format;

  • Help in planning and coordination of Sinapis events including the Business Plan Competition and other conferences.

  • Blog and or write for different publications when required to do so.

  • Design brochures, business cards, signs, fundraising packets, etc for Sinapis (or find a good firm to do this) if requested or if necessary;

  • Assist in identifying, engaging and establishing new partners

  • Attend team meetings with Sinapis leadership and staff;

  • Any and all other tasks as requested within this role

Candidate Profile and Experience Prerequisites:

We are a small, young, energetic team, so we are looking for candidates that are comfortable in a start-up environment. We are looking for a person that fits the following profile:

  • Either an undergraduate or graduate degree from a top university or experience in communication, branding and story telling;

  • At least 1-2 years of experience doing the story telling or communications for an organization, and event planning and coordination either for a for-profit or non-profit organization;

  • Familiar with the startup/entrepreneurship scene in Kenya (especially), Africa and globally

  • Proven initiative;

  • Has design skills and comfortable using Adobe Creative Suite

  • IT proficient with no problem managing content on websites and the blog

  • Proven writing skills

  • Track record of handling or acquiring new partners.

  • Conversant with different social media management tools eg. hootsuite

  • Ability to storyboard ideas and promotional material for different traget audiences

  • Work history that demonstrates proactivity, problem solving, creativity and organization;

  • A heart and passion for our cause of helping entrepreneurs and dedication to our Christian beliefs;

  • Any kind of teaching or mentoring experience, particularly with entrepreneurs, is a plus
