We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and passionate storyteller. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this role will be responsible for all aspects of content creation and distribution with the aim of educating potential OLX users through social media and other relevant digital channels.

You will help Kenyans better understand OLX as a brand that empowers them through;

o  Thoughtful storytelling

o  Crafting user-focused positioning and narratives for OLX

o  Producing and distributing videos, campaigns, slideshows and anything else you can dream up

Job Outputs/Responsibilities

Planning and organization

o  Develop and maintain  comprehensive plans outlining how social media activities/techniques will be applied to increase brand visibility while driving up the number of visitors to site

  • Maintain social editorial calendar and frequently publish content on organic, paid and owned social channels

o  Support the development of the brand social media management standards, policies and rules of engagement for social media

o  Project manage all digital content production and distribution initiatives  while instituting innovative processes to  enable a balanced level of agility and structured way of producing  digital content

Copy Writing

o  Applying market insights and internal briefs, develop creative concepts for production of relevant and impactful content for example short videos or other formats aimed for distribution in digital channels such as mobile and PC web.

o  Write clear, friendly digital help materials (concept overviews, how-to’s, tips and tricks) that supports our users to understand how the platform work

Content Production

o  Produce highly creative, low-cost but good quality digital content such as short videos to educate potential and existing users of our classifieds platform on how to  use the platform

Digital Content Distribution

o  Initiate pro-active, consistent, high quality educational and informative online communications through social media conversations and push communications such as newsletters

o  Collaborate with other departments such as customer service in development and execution of communication tactics that will lead to users understanding how to use the site in a more valuable way

  • Monitor trends with current tools; Understand popular social media channels in use and how they are they are being used in a bid to establish presence and a responsive engagement model

Analyze Impact

o  Establish metrics in which to measure the impact of all social media communications and implement these metrics across all social media campaigns.

o  Work with the marketing Manager to ensure all relevant offline and online marketing campaigns are integrated into high yielding social media activities

Character, Skills and Competencies

o  You are comfortable driving and owning the process of making an ad, from concept to storyboard to shooting to editing to distributing, but you are also excited about working within a team, and realize that no (wo)man is an island. 

o  You have had ample experience producing top-notch prose like advertising or comedy and gotten it in front of a lot of eyes. You are a master of tone. All it takes is a blank piece of paper. Your enthusiasm for people empowerment led you to OLX, where you will help distill and craft the OLX voice to the people.

o  Public relations/communications expertise with a high creative flair - a creative and enthusiastic personality familiar with employing varied communications tools and technologies (written, visual/graphics, social media, video editing/production, basic HTML).

o  Experience in script writing or creating high quality, low-cost digital content (for example simple videos or banners) and engaging content delivered through the internet/social media/e-mail is mandatory

o  You know how to take a message or story and get it in front of millions of eyes. You are keenly aware of different channels and strategies available, and the engagement each of them drive. 

o  Experience developing and launching email and text messaging campaigns preferred

o  Demonstrated experience and a passion for the social technology universe (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Foursquare, Flickr, blogs, wikis, RSS, social bookmarking, discussion forums and community software)

o  Experience with online monitoring and measurement platforms including but not limited to Facebook Insights, YouTube Insights, Google Analytics, HootSuite, TweetDeck, and Social Mention.

o  You have an eye for minute details (for example how long should a subject line of e-mail be?) with strong abilities to prioritize and work effectively in fast-paced environment juggling multiple projects/tasks at once flawlessly

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Literature, English or other related field
  • 2 years minimum experience in a similar role
