Job Description

iHub Research is the research arm of the iHub, Nairobi's Innovation Hub. Focusing on research centered on governance, mobile/web, and entrepreneurship/innovation, we strive to grow high-quality research in East Africa. We are currently seeking an experienced project coordinator to lead and manage a research project around tech innovations for large scale job creation. The hired project coordinator will be reporting to the Research Lead and working closely with the research team to ensure the success of the project on the ground.

Main job responsibilities:

Assist in conducting thorough literature review and systematic documentation needed

Working closely with the project team to map out key stakeholders who will be invited to participate in the study

Planning, coordination and participating in  the field research activities to ensure everything runs smoothly

Work closely with the Research Manager & Research Fellow to develop and design methodologies required in this project

Manage and ensure quality assurance during data collection and data entry with the assistance of the field research assistants

Preparing field budgets, logistics management and action plans

Attending events and meetings with stakeholders involved in the study

Work closely with the Research Assistant to make sure the project timelines and goals of the project are achieved

Assist in data analysis through creative thinking

Assist in reporting and documentation of findings


Key competencies:

Excellent people skills with the ability to communicate with entrepreneurs and stakeholders from various ICT backgrounds

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The ability to make people feel at ease and comfortable talking freely with you

Has received relevant training in field research and methodologies

Managing and coordinating research projects

At least one year relevant work experience in research and developing research design

Experience in logistics management and coordination of field research activities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google docs

Ability to meet strict deadlines, follow directions, be prompt, and work independently.


Education & expertise:

At least a Bachelor degree in Business or Information Technology, or relevant degree

At least 1 year experience in field research and ICT-related research

Conversant with ICT and tech entrepreneurship trends will an added advantage

Experience in data analysis tools, e.g. SPSS will be a plus.
