Job Description

iHub Research is the research arm of the iHub, Nairobi's Innovation Hub. Focusing on research centered on governance, mobile/web, and entrepreneurship/innovation, we strive to grow high-quality research in East Africa.

We are currently seeking an experienced research manager to lead and manage a research project around tech innovations for large scale job creation. The hired project manager will be reporting to the Research Lead and working closely with the research team to ensure the success of the project on the ground.

Main job responsibilities:

Laying out the frameworks and strategy of the project

Developing the research design and its implementation to the project

Identifying and mapping out the key stakeholders who will be invited to participate in the study

Assist in the recruitment processes of the field researchers and allocation of resources needed to ensure the success of the project

Planning and moderating of activities in the field e.g. focus group discussions and in depth interviews

Facilitate and attend events, presentations and meetings with stakeholders involved in the project

Reporting and communication to the client and the research lead

Monitoring and evaluation of the project activities, gaps and frameworks to ensure the project is well implemented within the stated budget and timelines. In addition, provide recommendations to the client and iHub Research

Management of the analysis, interpretation and reporting process so that the project reflects the  Client’s business objectives in the presentation and reporting of findings.

Overall management of the research team and suppliers/partners

Key competencies:

Excellent people skills with the ability to communicate with entrepreneurs and stakeholders from various ICT backgrounds

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Has received relevant training in field research and methodologies

Managing and coordinating research projects

At least two year relevant work experience in research and developing research design

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google docs

Ability to meet strict deadlines, follow directions, be prompt, and work independently.

Ability to multi-task

Ability to make strategic decisions that will lead to the success of the project

proactive problem solvers with superb planning, coordination, and leadership skills

Education & expertise:

At least a Bachelor degree in a relevant field such as Anthropology, Project Management, and research courses

At least 1 year professional experience managing an ICT-related research project

A master's degree or PhD in entrepreneurship or science-related field is a plus

Conversant in ICT and tech entrepreneurship trends will an added advantage

At least 2 years experience in research and writing proposals and reports related to ICTs
