Job Description

Web Developer (Fixed-term contract)

MIH Internet Africa has a vacancy for a Web Developer at an exciting start-up in Nairobi, Kenya. The incumbent will report to leadership situated at our head office in Cape Town, South Africa.

Main purpose of the role:

To administer, integrate, roll-out and maintain a first class web application in Kenya. The incumbent will work closely with partners in the region and systems integration will be a focus. The role will have a heavy DevOps focus, i.e. managing the hosting infrastructure

Job Outputs

    Implementation of software systems according to the accepted technical


    Delivery on new requirements and enhancements to existing systems

    Deployment of web applications

    Integration with 3rd party providers and external solutions.

    Administration of the hosting environment to ensure that reliability and

performance levels are maintained to expectation

    Monitoring of deployed solutions in order to comply with reliability and

performance expectations.

Qualification & experience:

    Relevant IT diploma or bachelors’ degree

  3 years’ work experience  

    Programming experience on the LAMP (PHP) stack

    Exposure to open source web solutions/platforms

    Experience with administrating linux platforms

    Experience with the Amazon Cloud Services a plus
