EUCOSSA (Egerton University Computer Science Students’ Association) are holding their annual Open Source Day on 10th March 2012 at Egerton University-Main(Njoro) Campus.  (view on google maps).

The event features talks from various invited guests from leading technology companies and organisations as well as exhibitions and competitions among students from different colleges and universities in Kenya on open source projects.

The theme for this year’s event is “OPEN SOURCE TECHNOLOGIES FOR ATTAINMENT OF VISION 2030”.

The aim of this event is enlighten the public of the benefits of open source technologies and how these technologies can steer technological advancements towards the realization of Vision 2030 and to create awareness with regard to open source technologies where leading experts from various organisations and institutions will discuss open source related technological issues in the country.

This event will provide a better understanding of the benefits of open source technologies, stimulate scientific discussion and promote use of open source technologies and show how these can be used for attainment of Vision 2030.

There will also be a competition which ranges from mobile, web applications, desktop applications and any other open source technologies.
