Kenya 28Feb is an initiative of a group of dedicated Kenyans who are committed and engaged in fostering unity of purpose for our great nation, Kenya. The initiative started in 2011, when on 28th February, to commemorate the signing of the National Accord we invited Kenyans of all walks of life to stop what they were doing at 1pm, wherever they are (be it at work, at home, on the street or in the shamba), and sing all three verses of the national anthem -‐ and then get back to what they were doing.
The purpose of the initiative is to encourage Kenyans to reflect on the concept of national unity and to provoke reflection on each person's individual role in fostering and enabling national unity. We felt that by singing the national anthem and reflecting on its words and meaning, Kenyans will be energized by the feeling of kinship and comradeship.
28th February is a day of reflection on what UNITY means to "ME"; what I must do to bring unity to my immediate surrounding -‐ Feb 28th is the day that we bring home to a personal level the notion that we often pay lip service to, that we must foster peace and unity amongst ourselves.
On the 28th February 2012 the world will watch as Kenyans stand UNITED: 1pm, 1 nation, 1 people, 1 anthem, united in 1 prayer for 1 Kenya.
The iHub will participate in this noble cause by singing the anthem on Tuesday 28th February 2011 at 1 pm.
