6 minutes or 360 seconds, sounds slightly daunting doesn’t it? But for entrepreneurs at the Demo Africa conference it is the perfect showcase for there their products and ideas.
The conference is currently taking place at the KICC from the 24th to the 26th of October, with the theme being “The launch pad for emerging Technology and trends.” Companies participating in the event are divided into various sub categories including cloud technology, consumer technology, enterprise technology, mobile technology and social media.
Often great ideas and businesses are born and die simply because of a lack of funding. Demo Africa is hoping to correct this by bringing together entrepreneurs from across Africa and provide them with a platform where they can attract potential inventors.
The idea is simple put entrepreneurs and investors in one room and let the magic happen.Entrepreneurs are given six minutes to pitch their idea to potential investors.
"Congratulations you’re now an entrepreneur, but can you sell your idea in viable way, highlighting key aspects of your product - including the financial side?
Entrepreneurs are also provided with booths where they display their products and interact one on one with potential investors.
Today’s activities kicked off with a bang with various notable guests like Samuel Pogishio Minister of Information & Communications, Anthony Stonefield, Nokia Head of Ecosystems South & East Africa, Louis Otieno, Regional Director, Business Development & Strategy, Microsoft Africa among others in attendance.
It was great atmosphere for companies to pitch their ideas and businesses to their fellow peers and investors. There after various experts dubbed “Sage panels” would debate on the various pitches while offering some sage advice to the entrepreneurs.
Day three continues tomorrow with Bob Collymore C.E.O of Safaricom opening the conference.
