Engaging Nairobi: Evernote’s quest to discover the best East African apps
In collaboration with the African Technology Foundation, starting on July 4th 2014 the Evernote International Partnership and Developer teams will expand to Nairobi their search to find and showcase the top African applications that integrate with the Evernote platform and open API. The journey continues from similar events in Lagos, Nigeria where Evernote will have completed the West African selection process on July 1st-2nd, 2014. The African Technology Foundation, based in Silicon Valley, CA, is Evernote’s premier partner for its engagement strategies in Africa. Consequently, and through the support of the iHub management, there will be a series of events in Nairobi that will culminate in the selection of the East African “app representative”.
The events will begin with a structured series of meetings on July 4th with the leaders of technology incubators across Kenya. Kenya currently boasts more than eight of the top technology incubators in the Horn of Africa, and the Evernote team is quite thrilled to embrace the developer ecosystem in Kenya as a key resource for discovering leading app companies in the region, as well as selecting Platform ambassadors that will light up the internationalization trail for African apps in the Evernote App Center. These meetings will run from 10am to 5pm. There will also be intimate press opportunities to dialogue with leading tech bloggers, journalists and enthusiasts in Nairobi. The press events will include an informal networking session to highlight and discuss the Evernote Platform Awards in Silicon Valley and Evernote’s Africa Roadshow.
On July 5th, Evernote and ATF will present the Developer Engagement Event, to be held at iHub. The event will include presentations from the Evernote team on the Evernote API and popular use cases from Evernote, as well as a mini-workshop by ATF on business development/internationalization strategies for East African developers. ATF will also inaugurate Evernote Meetups in Nairobi, and commit to the rollout of regional Evernote developer events. Further, the Evernote team will judge product pitches and demos from leading Kenyan app companies that satisfy the criteria for the Evernote Platform Awards. Entry is free but you need to RSVP here in advance
•10-day sponsored trip to Silicon Valley to represent Africa at the Evernote Conference (EC4)
