Introducing Blizzard’s Hamilton Chu to Nairobi’s Gamers
If you’ve not signed up for the LAN party this coming Saturday night, starting at 5pm, you need to do so ASAP. My friend, Hamilton Chu, is visiting and if you play any Blizzard games (Starcraft, Diablo, World of Warcraft or Hearthstone), then this is your one and only chance to meet one of the guys that makes those games happen.
He sucks at Starcraft, but he’ll own you in other games. Hamilton and I play Diablo III together quite often, and he deals with my incredibly crappy/lagging connection from Nairobi. If you’re into that, I’ll have my rig at the LAN party on Saturday night to play as well. Also, here’s a cool interview of him.
If you want to know how games actually come together, and the business behind them, then show up on Saturday evening at 5pm at the iHub.
A little about him:
As executive producer for Blizzard Entertainment’s Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Hamilton Chu provides the leadership and direction necessary to deliver players a Blizzard-quality gaming experience. In his role, Chu is responsible for strategic planning and business operations, providing management support for the development leadership, and generally tanking issues for the team whenever necessary.
As head of Blizzard’s strategic initiatives group, his other duties include leading business operations for World of Warcraft and managing Blizzard’s creative development department. Before joining Blizzard Entertainment, Chu served as a producer on Halo and Halo 2 for Bungie before going on to sell his soul to the MBA gods.
In his spare time, Chu enjoys reading comics, writing stories, and pwning noobs of all shapes.
I have it on good authority that Hamilton will bring some awesome Blizzard schwag…
He’s the guy who put together Hearthstone. It’s a freemium card game, which is a lot of fun to play, available on the PC or the iPad. Here’s a video interview of Hamilton explaining Hearthstone.
