iHub @ Swedish-Kenya ICT Conference, Nairobi 30th January 2014

Swedish-Kenyan ICT Conference was held yesterday at the Swedish Ambassador’s Residence, Rosslyn, off Limuru Road, near Village Market, Nairobi, Kenya.

The whole day event was sponsored by Business Sweden (Swedish Trade & Invest Council), Ministry for Foreign Affairs Sweden and Ericsson.

The function moderator was Olov Hemstrom, Area Manager, Business Sweden, Sub-Saharan Africa. It  started with welcome remarks by the Swedish Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Johan Borgstam, followed by introductory speech by H.E. Jonas Hafstrom, Ambassador and Senior Advisor to the Minister for Sweden, next on the podium to deliver his key note speech was the guest of honor Dr. Fred Matiang’i, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communication, Kenya.

Several powerful presentations, done by renowned Industry Leaders, included, Robin Pettersson (Business Sweden), Fredrik Jejdling (Ericsson), Bob Collymore (Safaricom), Thomas Melin (UN-Habitat), Robert Rudin (Ericsson), Matano Ndaro (CCK), Bo Andersson (PST), Katarina Hirsch (EKN), Carita Costa (Flexenclosure), Per Holmgren (Transmode), Morgan Hallgren (ICT Networks), Erik Frisk (UNICEF), Jimmy Gitonga (iHub) and Hans Piet (Ericsson).

The Best Presentation, voted by the audience, was ‘The Entrepreneur & The Enterprise: Africa is going into ICT an industry, an economic environment and as a lifestyle’ that was done by Jimmy Gitonga, Hype Master, iHub.

The Panel Discussion was moderated by Sean Moroney (AITEC) and the panelists included, Gituro Waianana (Vision 2030), John Kieti (mLab), Kararina Hirsch (EKN), Dick Omondi (Airtel), Bo Andersson (PST), Carita Costa (Flexenclosure), Morgan Hallgren (ICT Networks), Hans Piet (Ericsson) and Erik Frisk (UNICEF)

The Sundowner Closure was a networking cocktail at the poolside of the Swedish Ambassador’s residence.

iHub was also represented by Eng. Martin Obuya, Member of iHub’s Policy Formulation Team.
