Affordable business management training at the iHub – December 5th

Education is the next grand challenge. In the recent past, there has been a lot of talk of “Africa Rising”. Yet with all this talk of Silicon Savannah and Africa’s great future, is there still a skills gap that needs to be filled? According to research done by African Management Initiative, the answer is a resounding “Yes!” For most organizations it’s a challenge to get people who can lead teams well, who can take a project and make it grow. Strong managerial skills are required to drive Africa’s next stage of growth and development.

iHub Consulting has once again partnered with the African Management Initiative to bridge this skills gap by bringing the members of the community affordable business training, based on an innovative new blended learning model of MOOCs and learning labs. iHub/AMI Learning Labs feature video content from top business schools such as Nigeria’s Lagos Business School, Kenya’s Strathmore Business School and South Africa’s Gordon Institute of Business Science, tailored for African entrepreneurs and small businesses. A facilitator helps participants apply what they learn to their own businesses. You can sign up for the training HERE.

Feedback from the session in November was extremely positive. Mark Nganga who runs a software consulting house said that it was an eye opening session for him:

“The training was a really eye-opening experience…”

Ivy Mkahe found it to be a very educative session:

“I would like to commend you and your team on the educative and eye opening session. I am looking forward to attending the next ones”

The next AMI Learning Lab course is called Launchpad: Success at Work in 21st Century Africa, and aims to help managers and entrepreneurs become more effective at work. It covers topics like communication, time management, setting goals and influencing other people.

A facilitated session will be held on Thursday 5th December 2013 at the iHub from 9.00am to 4.30pm.There will be a subsidized fee of sh. 4,250 per person (50% down payment before the day of training and the remainder on the material date) covering training, snacks and lunch. You will need to bring a laptop and set of earphones with you.

Sign up HERE to be part of this training. Slots will be given out on a first-come-first-served basis. The class will have a maximum of 20 participants, and extra participants will be trained on a later date to be communicated.
