Gearbox Creative Reuse Hackathon

Gearbox will be holding an Instructables Build event on 19th October, 2013 from 2pm – 5pm at the iHub. The theme for this event is ‘Creative Reuse’ which will be aimed at using recycling materials such as e-waste, trash, and various objects to create amazing projects. The event will be held throughout the month of October in different makerspaces around the world.  Gearbox wants to give a local feel to the event and for this reason, we will be working with Cyrus Kabiru who is a visual artist based in Nairobi. Cyrus is a TED fellow who creates innovative and creative stunners, known as C-Stunners, using scrap metal and up-cycled materials that he finds.

What will be exciting is merging Cyrus’ visual artist background with the electronics and hardware community that we have so as to create interactive and wearable electronics – a first of its kind in Nairobi.

Want to be a part of this? Register here and bring your creative and out-of-the-box thinking this Saturday. Be sure to also come with any old electronics that could be incorporated with the C-Stunners to create amazing projects.
