The 15th Annual Engineering Students Exhibition
The IEEE Annual Engineering Students Exhibition aims at bridging the gap between academia and industry through exhibiting engineering and computing students projects to the government, industry, business sector and venture capital funds.
The 15th edition of the event is organized by the local IEEE Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) and the IEEE university student branches. The event is scheduled to take place from 24-25th September 2013 and has now received entries built by young innovators from across the East African Community.
Being the premier engineering and computing students event, the Annual Engineering Students Exhibition gets media attention with coverage from local and international media. This year’s event will draw special attention as it shall be graced by the attendance of IEEE President and CEO Dr. Peter W. Staecker, Past President Dr. Gordon Day, and President-Elect Dr. Roberto B. de Marca, who will be in Kenya as part of IEEE efforts in support of engineering and computing capacity on the continent.
The annual event highlights the efforts of our IEEE volunteers and partners in fostering engineering and computing education in the region and in promoting the development of the skilled workforce that is required by Kenya and the region. By supporting the IEEE GOLD and student branch members to develop and strengthen their leadership skills and professionalism, IEEE is developing the captains of industry that will drive tomorrow’s national and regional economies. This year’s event shall also be attended by other institutions that are promoting entrepreneurship and the development of a skilled workforce for the country and the region, including the Chandaria Business Innovation and Incubation Centre, the Logel Project (www.logelproject.org) and Engineering for Change (www.engineeringforchange.org).
IEEE will also be present at the Kids Hacker Camp thanks to Vincent Kabunga - the current chair of the IEEE Kenya section who will provide hardware and mentors during the camp scheduled for the 26th – 31st of August 2013 at the iHub
