ANDE Launches Legal Tools for the East African Markets
The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) will be launching a set of open-source legal tools designed to support investors, entrepreneurs, and other advocates for small & growing businesses on August 7th, 6pm at the iHub.
These tools have been developed through ANDE’s Legal Working Group in collaboration with the New Markets Lab/TransFarm Africa, Acumen Fund, Grassroots Business Fund, Open Capital Advisors and countless other investors, entrepreneurs and advocates who have contributed their thoughts, questions and experiences about investing in East Africa. Specifically, they will be sharing there:
Legal Guide to Investing in East Africa - an introductory review of the legal and regulatory environment in East Africa (with a focus on Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda)
“Best Practices” Term Sheet Language - an overview of common terms used in equity, debt, and quasi-equity investments with language tailored for use in East Africa
Entrepreneur’s Guide to Diligence & Documentation - what to expect in diligence, negotiation & closing including how these processes typically work in East Africa
Guest speakers include Katrin Kuhlmann from the New Markets Lab/TransFarm Africa (Washington, DC) and Annie Roberts from Open Capital Advisors (Nairobi, Kenya) who will both make a short presentation, answer questions, and provide an opportunity for networking. There will be drinks & appetizers for all.
If you would like to attend please RSVP here.
