Earth Hour Kenya: Join Team iHub! | Saturday 23rd March, 2013 | 8-10 pm | The Boma Hotel
UPDATE: Sign up here to be part of ‘Team iHub”
“We will Climb 10,000 stairs if 10,000 People sign up for Earth Hour Kenya”
This is the bold statement of Kenyan supporters of the global Earth Hour movement. On 23rd March 2013, Kenya joins the global community for the Earth Hour event, switching off the lights and stepping up renewable energy using foot-power and the sun. We will demonstrate to the rest of the world that a clean energy movement is possible, one step at a time. The “Step it up for a cleaner environment” relay will be run over 8 stories of the Boma Hotel in Nairobi.
As the participants climb the stairs, a mobile phone charger installed in the sole of one of their shoes will be activated. Power is generated as one walks or runs! The charger was invented and patented by a young Kenyan engineer, Mr Anthony Mutua.
After the staircase lights are switched off, the relay participants will conquer the climb using hand-held solar lamps provided by Givewatts, an Earth Hour supporter.
Date & Time: Saturday 23rd March 2013 8pm-10pm @The Boma Hotel
How you can participate: A sign-up form for Team iHub will be circulated to all community members via e-mail and all who are interested in attending the event can fill in their details. There are NO entrance fees. See you there!
