Olympics @ iHub!
For the past two weeks we’ve been going crazy about the Olympics over at the iHub. We’ve been cheering on our swimmers and runners (occasionally instead of working!), we’ve been doing Olympics photo shoots, we’ve participated in Google+ hangouts with the team in London, and we’ve spent a slightly embarrassing amount of time watching gymnastics. So far we have 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals – and we want more!
On Sunday 12th August the Olympics ends with the men’s marathon, in which we have 3 Kenyans running. Come join us as we celebrate the end of the games.
1 pm – 3:30 pm: Men’s Marathon. Samuel Wanjiru’s gold medal in 2008 made us the reigning champions. Can we hold on to this title and reclaim our glory after a challenging time in London? Come cheer on Wilson Kipsang, Abel Kirui and Emmanuel Kipchirchir Mutai in the final event of the Olympics as we go for gold.
4 pm – 6 pm: We’ll be screening Jackie Lebo‘s brilliant documentary on Kenyan runners. The programme follows two main runners – David Rudisha who won the 800m in the Beijing Olympics and Edna Kiplagat who is the world cross country champion. They are focusing mainly on their coaching and what it takes to get to the Olympics.
Jackie will also be doing a Q&A after the screening.
Win or lose, we have to cheer on our boys. Join us on Sunday afternoon!
