Louis Otieno Fireside Chat at the iHub
On the 21st of June, The iHub will be hosting Microsoft’s General Manager for East and Southern Africa, Louis Otieno, for a Fireside Chat starting at 6:00pm to 8:oopm.
Louis Otieno is Microsoft’s General Manager for East and Southern Africa (ESA), covering 15 countries. He is responsible for Microsoft’s overall business management and strategic development in the
region. His leadership, technology insight and operational expertise have spearheaded the steadfast growth of the company’s revenue and its expansion in new markets such as Angola. He is also part of the Leadership Team that steers Microsoft’s business in the West, East, Central Africa & the Indian Ocean Islands (WECA).
Louis played a lead role in the localization of Microsoft Office & Windows into Kiswahili – a first for an African language – which paved way for the extension of the localization program into seven other African languages.
Until his appointment as the GM for ESA in 2007, Louis was the Director for Enterprise Sales in Microsoft WECA region. Prior to that, he was the Director for Business Operations & Marketing, a position he held till 2004. He also served as Country Manager for Kenya between 1997 and 2002. Before joining Microsoft, Louis was a developer and rose to become the Vice President, Information Systems at EEC Financial Services Inc, a firm based in New York & New Jersey, USA. He is a graduate of Mercy College, NY (BSc. Computer Science); and Long Island University, NY (MBA in Business Administration).
He is also an advisor to the Presidential Investor’s Round table in Uganda and Tanzania as well as in the Presidential ICT round table in Mozambique. In addition, he is a member of the East Africa Business Summit and served as chair of the American Business Association in Kenya in 2005.
