Hi Ben, these are statistics publicly released by TCRA based on data submitted by the MNOs. I would like to correct you that many versions of the Symbian OS are in use in other devices both feature phones and smartphones, not only Nokia. How the last chart was calculated was based on a methodology including the amount of traffic they (the social media websites) refer to other websites. So this percentage is based on total traffic not actual unique users.

Some interesting stats, and nicely presented, though I have to disagree with some of it.

First, 22 million subscribers is not 52% of the Tanzanian population, since many (if not most) mobile phone subscribers have two or more active sim cards. My guess is that 22m subscribers is probably equivalent to around 12 million mobile phone users.

Second, 74% using Symbion is surely wrong. Nokia maybe, but Symbion is only the OS for Nokia's smartphones, not for their more basic models.

Third, it would be more useful to know what percentage of those Tanzanians who are online are using different types of social media, rather than the percentage "of those using social media". And in any case, I suspect this last chart is wrong, as it means nobody is using more than one social network - the total should add up to more than 100%, to account for people that use more than one social network.
