Deadline for Pivot25 Competition Extended
Delegates to the conference will include global thought leaders in ICT4D, mobile network operators, the venture capital community and angel Investors. Other delegates will be potential institutional customers, government representatives, academia and the ICT community at large. The event aims to facilitate networking and sharing of ideas between local developers participating in the competition and all the above important stakeholders who will be delegates at the conference.
New products from existing companies and individuals are eligible for the competition. Competition entries will be in 5 categories as follows
- Mobile Payments and Commerce
- Agriculture and education
- Gaming and entertainment
- Business and enterprise
- Health
25 companies and individuals, the top 5 from each of the 5 categories will get two free tickets to attend and present at the conference – hence pivot25. Selected 25 companies and individuals will be announced on April 31st 2011. The successful companies and individuals will also showcase their applications in the event’s demopit. The winners of each category will get prize money (USD 75,000 in total) after a selection process by a panel of experts during the event. In all the 5 categories the judges will looking out for working applications.
The Pivot25 event will also be used to launch the findings of consumer insight research studies being undertaken by the m:lab’ partners. Promising applications by student’s in the m:lab’s ongoing training will also be showcased in the event.
The event cum competition will be hosted on a yearly basis by the ihub and the m:lab. It will be billed as “the premier Mobile Application Competition and Conference in East Africa”. I noticed that the article says that the deadline has been extended to 15th April 2010.
2010!!??
I think u meant to say 15th April 2011?
